An online platform for people not in employment due to disability or long-term illness. The platform will provide an online community for people to learn, train and gain new employability skills.
The main aim of the platform is to reduce the disability employment gap, reduce the disability economic inactivity rate and to decrease the disparity between people with a disability in the workforce.
The other challenges the platform aims to address include:
· Reducing commuting issues and barriers
· Help eliminate social exclusion
· Upskilling people with a disability in a variety of different areas
· Providing the necessary support needed to feel included in a work environment.
· Provide disability awareness to employers
The impact of providing this platform includes;
Societal impacts:
- Upskilling people with a disability or long-term illness
- Increasing the number of people with a disability in employment
Economic impacts:
- Increasing the number of people in employment
- Better skilled workforce means higher paid jobs
Environmental impacts:
- Reduced emissions from transportation
The platform will address a gap in society which is resulting in the increasing number of people claiming out of work benefits on an annual basis due to health.
